Opportunities for Alumni
As the camp has expanded and more and more alumni have wanted to remain in contact with the camp and one another, we have tried to provide opportunities for this.

Become a Junior Facilitator for Camp RYLA. The responsibilities are similar to that of the Facilitator.  The only requirements are that you must be present for the entire week of the camp (no exceptions) and that you are an alumnus of the camp.

Attend the annual RYLA Reunion on the Saturday preceding the start of Camp RYLA.  Alumni that return receive a room at UMC for Saturday night and breakfast in the morning in exchange for assisting the new RYLA campers and Facilitators in starting the week.  The RYLA Reunion has traditionally had 50 or so campers return and they share stories, have an ice cream treat and simply just spend time with one another.

We need volunteer(s) to become RYLA Alumni Coordinator(s).  This position would not require much work, but would allow for greater planning of activities of the annual reunion and possibly smaller and more frequent reunions.  RYLA has never had any formal Alumni activities so this would be an opportunity to be creative.

What is the role of the RYLA Alumni?
In the first year of RYLA there were approximately 25 participants and the camp has grown very rapidly.  Each year just prior to the RYLA Camp is a RYLA Alumni 'get-together'. The alumni play an invaluable role in helping the Facilitators and new Rylarians become adjusted to the camp.

The mission of the Rotary Youth Leadership Award Alumni Association is promoting a positive relationship between the Rotary Youth Leadership Award Camp, Rotary District 5580, Rotary District 5580 Committee, RYLA students and former RYLA participants.

Objectives include, but are not limited to:

• Promoting the general welfare of the Rotary Youth Leadership Award Camp as a leadership and educational experience.

• Stimulate and encourage the interest of RYLA alumni in furtherance of programs and progress of Camp RYLA.

• Encourage high standards upon which RYLA is founded.

• Act as a focal point through which RYLA Alumni opinions can be directed to Rotary District 5580 RYLA Committee.

• Foster interest in RYLA Alumni programs for RYLA participants.

• Encourage RYLA Alumni to promote and participate in Rotary Youth Exchange Programs, Rotaract/Interact, Keep Kids in School and Rotary Stay in School Programs.

• Encourage RYLA Alumni to continue to support and participate in camp RYLA activities. i.e. RYLA Ambassador Program, RYLA Facilitator and recruiting student for RYLA Camp.
