Hey everyone, times are rough right now and so busy with scholarships and college work. Its really been hard for me to take time and stop and think about the choices I've been making. Sometimes we get so caught up with work and trying to please others we dont look at ourselves. I really miss everyone so much and I want to see my family and everyone else more than ever. Love and miss you all.

Hello RYLArians!!! In case you were wondering where everyone is at or what everyone has been up to....in addition to this forum...lots of us are on facebook (www.facebook.com). Plus, you could join either of these groups & reconnect all at once: "RYLA 2008 District 5580" or "Camp RYLA 2007-Dist. 5580". Happy facebooking and good luck with high school/college. I hope you're still taking time to practice the 7 Habits & 4 Way Test. Don't forget to share your RYLA experiences and lessons with others! Take care & keep in touch.

Camp Ryla, what was it going to be like? Was the question I asked myself before attending Ryla. I had no idea that in just one week a family can come together as ONE with an amazing bond as if we were a real family from the very beginning. My family (P) was awesome of course we had our ups and downs but that is what brought us closer as a family, by the end of the week I was not ready to go home at all! I miss everyone very much- daddy lon, uncle alex, sam, barbie, alison, andy, maria, joey, and tara I will always remember you! Miss ya lots and Love Ya! ~Chantal

Thank you to everyone at camp RYLA this year. My family P was the best. From the moment I was registered I felt the love of all of the staff, facilitators, assistant and junior facilitators and even the campers. We all came not knowing what to expect and left with the feeling of our hearts overwhelmed with joy, love and well wishes for eachother in our adventures ahead. I came to camp RYLA as a teenager not quite sure of myself, who I was or what I wanted to do but in just one week I did so much growing and I left camp I adult fully on my way to acheive greatness and live life by my terms while living by my mission statement to live life for the service and happiness of myself and others. I hope to be part of the magic of 2009 by possibly becoming a JF and by telling all I can about this wounderful experience I had at camp.To all at camp RYLA 2008 thank you for being there and God Bless.

I Miss RYLA so much!!! I was in Foster CAre when i was givin the chance to attend RYLA and it was one of the most amazing things that has happened to me while i was in foster care. I met so many life changing people. I also had the best family and Facilitators. Our Family was kinda know as the Blessing Family because whenever someone sneezed we were all there to bless them as a family. RYLA is the Best and i wish i could go back and have that much fun again and again.

Hey everyone! I really just have one thing to say...umm, I'm a freshman in college?!?! What happened to the time? It's already February, we have a little more than 3 months left and then BAM - 1 year of college down! It's ridiculous, I can't even believe it! It seems like just yesterday I was a soon-to-be-senior with the confidence of a rock and the best FAMILY in the world!! (Family O, we're still amazing!) To my Family O - Eric, Kathryn, Kelsey, Logan, Deepta, Kaley, Bri(the other lol), Evan, and Erica: I miss all of you, and if you guys ever see this or anything, feel free to call/text, email, Facebook, or even WRITE a letter :o haha I love you all!

I still remember and think about my RYLA experience after 12 years, so it must have made an impact on me. By far the most valuable thing I took away from the camp was how to recognize, approach and resolve conflict. One thing I would suggest adding to the curriculum is the importance of effectively teaching/training others so they may help achieve a particular goal. The 7 Habits book in 1995 was quite business centric, and didn't translate well to my 16 year old mind. It looks like they are using a teenage edition now, hopefully that's better. Personal advice to past and future campers, don't adjust your compass to fit others' impressions or expectations of you. Best wishes and God bless.

RYLA has been one of the best experiences of my life. I cannot thank the staff enough for what they put into this camp to make it such an enjoyable and enlightening experience for all us campers. At Ryla, I was made to feel happy with myself and was inspired to make everyone else I encountered happy with themselves. I feel I was asked the right questions to help me realize who I am and how I want to impact the world. Somehow, this camp brings out the best side of people and makes each person beam with positivity. I'll never forget how enthusiastically we clapped for each performer in the talent show! Real life isn't like that...Talent Shows are always contests (whether they're deliberately set up that way or not) wherein people only cheer for a small percent of the performers. I honestly had never been in such a positive atmosphere before, so it was definitely a shock coming back to real life! I wanted to be back in crookston with all of you as soon as I reached TRF! Much love to my Family O (for personal recognition, see my "sister" Brianna's message) and all the camp staff and campers, whether I met you or not. All of you made this camp rock!

Hello all, I just randomly bumped into a fellow '99 Rylarian tonight. I don't think I'd seen her for about 5 years, and after that I got to thinking about RYLA, and found my way to this sight. I had forgotten it even existed, and yet here I am. Google is truly amazing. It was good to see all the familiar names of people who had posted - Don, Marty, Eric, Sarah, Katie, Emily, Andrea, Max, John, Dan, etc. Hope you all are doing well. Well, I don't really have anything in particular to say, but wanted to join in. Hopefully I'll get a chance to be a facilitator again some day. That was a great experience. My sister Laura (also a past Rylarian and facilitator) is getting married around RYLA time this year, so probably not this July, but maybe some year. A little update on me - I live in the Cities now, I'm rooming with a '98 Rylarian named Bryce, I just got back from a month of filming tsunami relief work in South East Asia, and my e-mail address on this website is wrong. You could reach me at pianoplayingdave@hotmail.com. That's not my main address, but if you wrote me there, I could tell you the other one. Well, all for now. I am so glad to be a part of the community of RYLA alumni, and have nothing but fond memories of camp back in '99. Hopefully I'll randomly bump into some of the rest of you in the years to come... -Dave

Ciao RYLA!!! I am Jose Santos from RYLA 1994 Family C. 10 years have passed since I attended but my experience in RYLA is still fresh in my mind. If only I could attend it once more. I'm glad that the program is still going strong and continuously provide an unforgettable experience to anyone attending. Special hello to everyone in RYLA 1994, to my beloved Family C and awesome head of the family Mr Walter Horban. I have lost contact but keep in mind that I haven't forgotten about all of you. I hope everything's well. Maybe someday we could all get together again and catch up. I am currently living in Sicily, Italy. And if any of you happen to pass by and need a place to stay, keep in mind that my home is open to ANY fellow RYLArians. Thanks again for the experience RYLA and Mr. Cavalier.

My name is Andy Tulenchik. I was in Dan Anderson's Class so to speak. RYLA was an amazing experience for me and I am glad that so many who have gone had that same feeling. This might age me relatively speaking. When I went to RYLA email and cell phones did not exist. Right now I reside in the Twin Cities where I attended Bethel University and majored in Political Science. Its nice to see so many young alumni stay in touch with one another.

Wow, with the exception of Don, and Dan, I'm the oldest one here Its great to read so many wonderful things about the Camp, and in reading the comments so many memories come back to me, it really was one of the greatest times of my life. Looks like I'm going to have to go hunting for all my old family members, tell them about the site, and see if we can get more of the contacts up and working. Great idea, and thanks again for that week so long ago, but too long ago at all.
Brian Inget 1996 Family G August 19, 2003

Well, i figured that i could be the first person from 2003 camp to write a little note to everybody. i just want to take a few seconds to thank each and every one of you for the amazing week that we went through. honestly, it was absolutely perfect the way that it all turned out, and i most certainly would not change a single thing about the week. well maybe i would have put on a little more sunscreen for the tubing experience. but all in all, it was easly one of the best weeks of my entire life up to this point. i think about camp everyday and dream about it some nights too. all i pray is that all of you stay safe and well. you are all some of the most amazing people that i have met, and you mean a lot to me. hopefully we will all see each other again someday soon, and until then, make sure we keep in touch!

It is with the deepest regret that I tell you that Reis Hall passed away on Tuesday Feb. 4, 2003. Reis was a huge supporter of our camp and a facilitator for many years. The past two years he was not well. When he knew that he only had a few days left with us, he put on his RYLA "T" shirt. His wife said it was one of his most prized possessions. Reis touched many people and he allowed many to touch him. I thank him for the leader and friend he was to all.

Hey everyone. Its everyone's favorite ladies man. Ok i'm just kidding. But hey. First, I just want to thank all of you that made RYLA such a great experience for me. I've been to many camps and leadership seminars throughout my short life (hey, I'm only 17), but only two have touched me so deeply: RYLA and Outlaw Ranch in SD. Both have made me a better person-physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. For all of you I met at camp-it was a great time. I hope to keep in touch with all of you. For those I didn't meet-I hope you all had as great a time as I did. I would love to keep in touch with all of you, so drop me a line at daladiesman8@hotmail.com

Actually Gabrielle is fast asleep, for now anyway. Just wanted to thank everyone at RYLA, campers , facilitators, and anyone else wandering around on this website for the great week we had. We made it home safely , and slept til noon on Sunday. Which if you think about it is pretty bad since we probably got more sleep than anybody. Bill's knee is healing up and I think his toe will survive. If it ever warms up here, he will be practicing ultimate frisbee for sure. Gabi is running around fake high fiving everyone being too cool, thanks Lisa and we made our trip half an hour longer to go to Target to buy her a pop up lipstick, thanks Carey. Anyway thanks for the great time and if I can get the same room next year Don, we shall be back. Pictures being developed and will be sent in soon. Talk to you soon eh. INFJ

I would like to thank everyone at Camp Ryla for making it such a wonderful experience for everyone. I had a blast watching everyone have their "lightbulb moment" when they realize what a wonderful person they really are. I wish everyone the best of luck, and hope to see everyone next year. Dan- the site looks awesome. Thanks for the hard work!
Emily Klindt 1999 Family K / Jr. Facilitator July 16, 2001

Hi everyone! I just wanted to thank all the campers and staff for another great year at Camp RYLA. And to tell Dan that you're doing an awesome job with the website, despite the fact that you're a walrus stealer :) Keep in touch everyone!
Andrea Nordick 1998 Family G / Facilitator July 15, 2001

I felt that Camp RYLA was an overall good experience. It is hard to have a positive attitude going into a week in which you will sacrifice three soccer games for the camp, just as I did. After a couple days with the RYLA staff and campers, I nearly forgot about my soccer games. It was tough to miss, but RYLA helped me through it. I think that everyone at RYLA gets something different out of it. Some may get a new friend. Others may build confidence. While others just have a good time. These are a few of the reasons why people enjoy the RYLA camp. I believe that one of my friends is one of the most cynical people on the planet. He hated the camp for the first few days, but came to grow and eventually love it. He is just one case of the many who love this camp. I highly reccommend it for anyone who is considering.
Max Page 2001 Family A July 14, 2001

RYLA is a great experience to grow as an individual.  You learn how to maintain leadership qualities.  You learn how to take control of a obstacle and overcome it.  I learned a lot at the RYLA convention and I made new friends also.  You learn that first impressions aren't everything.  There were people that didn't interest me at first but once I started to talk to them the became very intriguing.  I hope that everyone learns something from this RYLA experience like I did.
Candy Berens 1998 Family I July 2, 2001

RYLA is an extraordinary experience that I wish all high school kids could experience.  I have always looked fondly upon the time and effort that I have spent working with the camp and all the people that I have met.
